This site is operated by Jacob Eells, trading as Quietly Useful, based in Somerset, United Kingdom. This policy explains what information is collected through quietlyuseful.co.uk, why, and how it’s handled.

What information is collected

When you use the contact form on this site, the following is collected: your name, email address, company or organisation (optional), the subject of your enquiry, and your message. This information is sent directly to Jacob’s inbox by email and is not stored in a public database on this site.

When you complete the Automation Opportunity Scorecard, the following is collected: your name, email address, company name (optional), and phone number (optional), along with your answers and resulting score. This is stored within the site’s own database rather than sent to a third party. Ticking the box to agree to storage of this data is required to receive your result. A separate box to agree to receive marketing emails is optional, and is never required to receive your result.

Standard technical information, such as your browser type and general location, may also be logged automatically by the web server, as is normal for any website.

Why this information is collected

Contact form information is used solely to respond to your enquiry, whether that’s about an automation audit, consulting, a Maven course, or a general question. This is done on the basis of legitimate interest: replying to messages people send us.

Scorecard information is used to calculate and send you your result. Your phone number, if given, may be used to follow up directly about automation or consulting if that seems like a genuine fit, again on the basis of legitimate interest in responding to something you actively requested. Your email address will only be used for marketing purposes, such as tips, workshop announcements, or service updates, if you have separately and explicitly agreed to this by ticking the marketing consent box.

Marketing communications

Where you have explicitly agreed to receive marketing emails, you may be sent occasional emails about automation, AI tools, workshops, or Quietly Useful’s consulting services and apps. This only happens where you have actively opted in; it is never a condition of receiving a scorecard result or any other content on this site.

You can withdraw marketing consent at any time, either using the unsubscribe link included in marketing emails or by getting in touch directly. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect the storage of data used to respond to a specific enquiry or to deliver a scorecard result.

Email delivery

Contact form messages are delivered using Purelymail, a third-party email hosting provider, acting as a data processor for the purpose of delivering your message. Purelymail does not have independent access to use your information for any other purpose.

Analytics

This site may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, such as which pages are viewed and how people arrive at the site. Where analytics is active, this policy will be updated to reflect it, along with any cookie consent required under UK law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask what information is held about you, to request it be corrected or deleted, and to object to how it’s used. This includes withdrawing marketing consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, get in touch using the contact form or email directly.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top will always reflect the most recent update.
